  • Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Edward Zakayo and Stanley Mburu on Tuesday settled for one-two finish in the 5,000 metres men final in day two of Team Kenya’s selection for World Under-20 Championships at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
  • By virtue of finishing first and second respectively, they earned the tickets to to the World Under-20 Championships set for  Finland.

Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Edward Zakayo and Stanley Mburu on Tuesday settled for one-two finish in the 5,000 metres men final in day two of Team Kenya’s selection for World Under-20 Championships at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Zakayo clocked 13 minutes, 19.73 seconds, while Mburu timed 13:23.66 to secure themselves the chance to fly Kenya’s flag in Tampere, Finland.

The two rivals teased each other by exchanging leads but it’s Zakayo who took the lead, drawing Mburu along as they raced to the finish line.
