Zidane: Little difference between teams at Champions League

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said there is little difference in quality of teams who have qualified for the Champions League and any differences between Legia Warsaw and Real Madrid must be proven on the pitch.

“For me, if you play in the same competition there is no difference between the teams. People may think there are differences, but if there are, you have to prove them,” said the French coach.

Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez trained with the rest of the group and could be in the starting line-up after recovering from an injury.

“He’s feeling better now. It’s his first complete training session with the squad but he is ok, he is ok. He has no discomforts and that’s the most important thing. He is physically recovered,” the coach said.

After getting back on track in the domestic competition with a 6-1 destruction of Real Betis, Real Madrid will try to land it’s eighth straight European home win.

The Spanish side have four points from their opening two games in Group F.

Zidane’s team drew 2-2 in their last European match (September 27) against Borussia Dortmund and beat Sporting Lisbon (2-1) with an injury-time Alvaro Morata goal in their first European match of the season.

Zidane will be without injured captain Sergio Ramos as well as midfielders Luka Modric and Casemiro.

French defender Raphael Varane said he felt their next opponent would take the game to Madrid.

“I think Legia will play their best, they will try to create trouble, but the idea is to prepare the match as every other match, as an important game. We need to win, we want to, and no matter if it’s Legia or another team we have to give our best, play an intense game and with the idea of winning and scoring many goals,” Varane said.

Legia Warsaw will try to grab their first points of the campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu.
