Zoo, Vihiga looking to topple Nzoia off NSL lead

The National Super League (NSL) resumes Wednesday with 10 matches on the cards with leaders Nzoia FC travelling for the stern test of early pace-setters, Kariobangi Sharks in Nairobi.

FC Talanta entertain high-flying Zoo FC and after battling to a 1-1 draw against Oserian FC on Sunday where a win for the Kericho based side could propel them to the top pending the outcome of the Nzoia clash.

The former national champions who were disbanded before being given a new lease of life lead the standings on 10 points, two above fellow Western side, Vihiga United and Zoo with Sharks in fourth with seven after four rounds of the second-tier competition.

Vihiga are at home to Ligi Ndogo but despite their comfortable league standing, team manager Arthur Ominde is not letting the situation get into their heads.

“Most of the boys in our squad are not used to playing in such a league. That’s why we cannot already start speculating about Wednesday’s results. We’re handling our season match by match so we’re not looking back at our current position yet,” said Ominde, adding that he will be sticking to the squad that started against Nakuru All Stars.

Moyas FC are out to bounce back from the 3-0 home defeat to Wazito FC when they visit KCB in the mid-week fixture.

Seventh-placed Police FC face Agro Chemicals and will fancy their chances of registering a third consecutive league win while Bidco FC host St. Joseph.

Retailers Nakumatt FC travel to a bolstered Wazito FC squad after the Nairobi-based club acquired the services of former AFC Leopards skipper Martin Imbalambala.

Kisumu’s Palos FC are desperate to break their three-match winless streak when they host Oserian FC while the Nakuru All Stars visit Nairobi Stima.

In other matches, Kariobangi Sharks host Nzoia FC while West Kenya Sugar play Modern Coast Rangers.

All matches kick off early with the latest matches of the day scheduled for 1615hrs.
