Busia: Police hunt for 3 robbery suspects who escaped from cell

A police officer who sought anonymity as he is not authorized to speak on the matter, said the suspects had been nabbed over a series of robbery with violence cases in the area.

The trio is said to have gained access to blunt weapons, which they used to cut the cell grills before escaping.

Samia sub-county OCPD Timothy Maina said he is away from office and was not in a position to comment on the matter, while the OCS declined to comment, saying he was not authorised to speak to the media.

A probe has been launched into how the three got access to the  weapons they used to break out of the cells.
